Managed IT and cybersecurity for Cedar Rapids businesses

We look after the technology for small and mid-sized businesses across Eastern Iowa: the network, the security, the backups and the Microsoft 365 tenant, for one fixed monthly fee. Problems get found and fixed before they stop your day.

Founder-led, so the person who scopes the work is the person who does it and the person you call when something breaks. Your licences, domains and cloud accounts stay registered to you, and the scope and the price are in writing before anything starts.

Start with a free 30-minute IT assessment. We review your backups, your firewall and your Microsoft 365 setup, then send you a written summary of what we found. No obligation, and no sales call unless you ask for one.

Would rather not have us in your systems yet? Run the same 12 checks yourself and get your score in five minutes.

Hotel guests could not get online once the property filled up

The problem. Guests stopped being able to join the wireless network once roughly 150 devices were connected. The obvious explanation, a device limit somewhere, turned out to be wrong.

What we did. We worked through the possibilities in order and ruled each one out with evidence: DHCP pool exhaustion, per-device limits, captive portal caps, access point overload, hardware faults and switching problems. The actual cause was 5 GHz co-channel interference. Three of the four access points had been assigned overlapping 80 MHz channel blocks. Several smaller factors were making it worse, including a disabled minimum data rate, an AV system quietly consuming around 55 wireless slots, and broadcast traffic flooding a flat, unsegmented network.

The fix. Remotely, in one evening: all four access points moved to non-overlapping 40 MHz channels, minimum data rate enforcement enabled, guest roaming threshold adjusted, multicast filtering turned on.

The result. Six days of stable, complaint-free operation afterwards, with the share of clients stuck on the slower 2.4 GHz band falling from 38% to 21% across the property. Worth being precise about what that does and does not prove: this was measured over normal operation and improved metrics, not a controlled test at peak occupancy.

Not sure what shape your IT is in?

Most businesses we meet are one failed backup or one unpatched firewall away from a bad week, and have no way of knowing it. The free assessment tells you where you actually stand, in writing, whether or not you ever work with us.

Not ready to let anyone into your systems? Fair enough. Grade your own setup with the free 12-point self-check, see your score on the spot, and we will email you the full result. No call, no obligation.

What it costs

One price per thing we look after, and support is part of it. If we manage your laptop and it stops working, fixing it is what the fee is for. Every agreement also includes a monthly pool of hands-on time, remote or onsite, sized to what a well-maintained network your size actually uses.

Every unit price is published, down to $7 for a wireless access point. Prefer hourly with no agreement? Those rates are on the page too.

Beyond managed IT

Managed IT is the core of what we do. Two other things come up often enough with clients that they are worth naming.

Website Design & Development

Sites built so the domain, the hosting and every login belong to your business, not to us. Business sites, online ordering, and real estate sites with live MLS listings.

AI Adoption & Transformation

Practical help working out where AI saves your staff real time, using the systems you already run, set up so it cannot see more of your business than it should.

Frequently asked questions

What does it cost?

Every unit price is published on the pricing page, so you can work it out yourself. A ten-person office with one server is about $548 a month. Forty devices with six servers is about $1,630. A hundred users across three sites is about $4,305, or roughly $43 a person. Support is included in those figures, along with a monthly pool of hands-on hours.

Do I have to sign a long contract?

Twelve months, then month to month, with a 30-day exit any time after the third month. The first three months cover the onboarding work, after that you should be free to leave if we are not doing a good job. We would rather keep clients because they want to stay.

How quickly do you respond?

Remote helpdesk is Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. From the Managed tier upward, after-hours emergency support is included, and written response targets form part of the agreement rather than being a promise on a website. Round-the-clock security monitoring is part of the Managed + Security tier.

We already have someone who handles our IT.

That is common and not a problem. We often work alongside an internal person or an existing supplier, taking the parts they do not cover, such as security, backups or the Microsoft 365 tenant. We are equally happy to say that your current arrangement is working and that you do not need us.

Are we too small for you?

Possibly, and we will tell you. Under roughly five staff, a monthly agreement usually does not pay for itself and hourly support is the better answer. We would rather point you to the right option than sell you the wrong one.

What happens to our systems if we stop working with you?

Nothing has to be untangled. Your licences, domains and cloud tenants are registered to you throughout, not to us, and your documentation is handed over. There is nothing to buy back and no lock-in to negotiate your way out of.

Do we need a server?

Often not. For most businesses under about thirty people, cloud identity through Microsoft 365 removes the need for a server entirely, which means nothing in a cupboard to patch, back up or fail on a Monday morning. Where a piece of software genuinely requires one, we will say so and build it properly.

What is actually in the free assessment?

Thirty minutes looking at your backups, your firewall and your Microsoft 365 configuration, plus a conversation about what has been going wrong. You get a written summary of what we found and what we would fix first. It is yours to keep, with no obligation and no follow-up sales call unless you ask for one.

If you manage our computers, do you bill us when we call about one?

No. If we are being paid to keep a machine running, fixing it when it stops is what the fee is for, and billing you for the phone call would make no sense. Every agreement also includes a monthly pool of hands-on hours for the work a person has to do, remote or onsite. Most businesses never use it all. If yours consistently does, that is a signal something underneath needs fixing, and we would rather raise it at the review than quietly send bigger invoices.
